Sparx Science is designed so that each student has one homework per week. Each week can cover all three science subjects.

The article covers how to set up Sparx for classes with different teachers for each specialism, for example if you have a triple science cohort.

Importing classes

Each student can only belong in one class in Sparx Science so if you have classes set up separately for biology, chemistry and physics in your MIS (e.g. 11Bi1, 11Ch1, 11Ph1) you should just import one of these classes into Sparx Science.

Creating a scheme of learning

Create a single scheme of learning for all three subjects. You may wish to have Biology, Chemistry and Physics topics in each week.

When you assign the scheme of learning to the class in Class Manager, you may wish to increase the length of the homework to reflect that it covers all three sciences.

Monitoring homework via the hand-in page

Many schools find it useful to nominate one single teacher per class who is responsible checking if students have completed their homework across all three subjects.

You can use the Insights page to identify common areas that your students struggled with that week in homework. To just look at one of the science subjects, select the relevant tab within the Insights page.
